The tools presented in this course will be widely used in our second quantum optics course, which will present more advanced topics such as entanglement, interaction of quantized light with matter, squeezed light, etc. This report describes No Cloning Theorem, an introductory topic of Quantum Computation and Quantum. You will be able to fully appreciate real experiments demonstrating wave-particle duality for a single photon, and applications to quantum technologies based on single photon sources, which are now commercially available. In physics, the no-cloning theorem states that it is impossible to create an independent and identical copy of an arbitrary unknown quantum state, a statement which has profound implications in the field of quantum computing among others. This is the first project report at my University. Wave-particle duality is a great quantum mystery in the words of Richard Feynman. Thus the prohibition against cloning helps preserve privacy.

As discussed earlier, if her cloning device can success-fully copy the vertical and horizontal polarizations, it will fail to copy faithfully either of the two diagonal polarizations.

These tools will be applied to the emblematic case of a one-photon wave packet, which behaves both as a particle and a wave. It is well known that (non-orthogonal) pure states cannot be cloned so one may ask: how much or what kind of additional (quantum) information is needed to. because of the no-cloning theorem, Eve cannot succeed in her task. You will learn about quantization of light, formalism to describe quantum states of light without any classical analogue, and observables allowing one to demonstrate typical quantum properties of these states. This course gives you access to basic tools and concepts to understand research articles and books on modern quantum optics.
